Travelling To and Around KLFW

Getting To Malaysia

Air Asia flew me out to Kuala Lumpur on a direct flight to go see what Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week was all about.  My experience with Air Asia was overall decent. Air Asia is budget airlines therefore do not expect the luxuries of a more expensive airline. Air Asia provides a good flight for amount you pay. The flight attendants were very kind and professional.

On my flight home I asked to be upgraded to a first class ticket. My experience was overall much better than when I flew economy. The flatbed allowed you to sleep almost lying flat with relative comfort. Since it is still an economy airline food and drinks must paid for. I recommend that if you fly the flatbed option to double check that the airline brings enough inflight entertainment for you, because it’s possible to run out. Overall Air Asia is the quickest route to Kuala Lumpur, and if you can handle the losses of some luxury then flying with them is a fantastic option!

Getting Around Malaysia

“The drivers were professional and chatted with me about things to do around KL.”

Upon arriving and leaving Kuala Lumpur I used an app called GrabCar. This is much like Kakao Taxi or Uber. You simply call a driver using an app and they pick you up and bring you to your destination.

Creating your account is done in a few easy steps by imputing general information. You an also link your Grab account with your Facebook, or Google account to set it up in seconds.

Adding your credit card as a way to pay is a very nice feature to have in this type of app. I recommend doing this because the cars do not have credit card readers so unless you have enough cash, paying on the app is the way to go! I had no issues creating an account and got a driver within seconds of searching. If you want to plan ahead you can also schedule a time for a driver to pick you.

In order to use the app you must be connected to Wi-Fi or have data on your phone. Since getting a SIM card at the airport is very inexpensive, I recommend doing this because it can be difficult to find Wi-Fi when you need it most.

Grab Car also offers a feature where you can input the amount of people and luggage you have to ensure the car that comes to pick you up is the correct size. This feature is very nice and could be very helpful with a large group.

The drivers were professional and helped me with my luggage along and chatted with me about suggestions of things to do while in Kuala Lumpur. I highly recommend this if you are going to go see Kuala Lumpur Fashion week! Overall it seemed like a very reasonable way to get around Kuala Lumpur.
