Tea Shops and Tea Houses Insadong Tour

In the midst of winter, enjoy a delightful winter interlude in Insadong with some piping hot tea! The educational tour will cover a variety of topics including tea preparation, traditions and tea ceremonies, tea varieties, and ceramics in a relaxing and reinvigorating atmosphere. Serving as the ideal backdrop for the tour, the neighborhood of Insadong is rich with antique shops, modern galleries, and tea houses and contains a remarkable mixture of rich history and modern influences.

At the first stop on the tour, Jidaebang Tea House, Ms. Park will demonstrate how to brew lotus tea and speak on tea traditions and ceremonies in Korea. From there, the shopping portion of the tour will explore O’ Sulloc Tea House which specializes in green tea and tea products from Jeju Island. At Yeha Ceramics, participants will learn about glass and ceramic tea pots, cups, and accessories, as well as some rare tea varieties. Weaving through many additional unique and hidden tea houses, the tour will allow participants to revisit them equipped with their newfound knowledge of tea.

The tour concludes at the Kyung-in Museum of Fine Art which is home to a traditional tea house, Dawon, located in its spacious garden. Overlooking the architecture and sculpture garden, Dawon is the ideal location to unwind and indulge in a revitalizing cup of tea.
