The burgers here can be quite pricey. The most expensive burger on the menu is “The Bubba Gump” (22,000 KRW). Fries are not included in the price and must be ordered separately. However, the selection is quite extensive, and there’s a separate breakfast menu that features popular NYC brunch items (chili bowls, club sandwiches, etc).
The restaurant’s interior is modern and white, giving the place a very New York-esque atmosphere. It’s not a big restaurant, but there is ample space to accommodate groups of people.
The burgers at Brooklyn are made with beef that is grounded fresh daily. When ordering, you can select a smashed (5 ounces) or handmade patty (7 ounces). However, the handmade patties are an extra 2,000 KRW. You can order fries separately for 6,000 KRW, or get a combo (drink + side of fries) for 5,000 KRW.
Our favourite burger is the “C.R.E.A.M” (Cheddar Rules Everything Around Meat), which contains sharp cheddar, bacon, and horseradish mayo. All of the burgers are cooked medium well but can be adjusted upon request.
The atmosphere here is casual and relaxed. As you enjoy your burger, you’ll frequently hear hip-hop or pop music playing on the speakers. English menus are available and most of the servers are bilingual.
After finishing renovations last year, The Workshop & Hidden Cellar created a new burger menu that has been a hit with both Koreans and expats. This is the place to go if you’re looking for a huge filling meal, because the burgers are massive (200 grams) and crafted to get your hands messy. Every patty and bun is homemade, and the patties are cooked medium-well.
In a nod to the film Pulp Fiction (1994), one of their best burgers is named “The Royale With Cheese.” This burger is loaded with bacon, cheddar or muenster cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion rings, and mayo. For only 11,000 KRW, you can enjoy this caloric monster with a side of fries. If you’re a fan of gorgonzola, try the “Gorgonzola,” a burger stuffed with blue cheese, tomato jam, onions, lettuce, and a sauce of your choice.
The Workshop’s layout is similar to that of a sports bar. It’s a good place to take a date or unwind after a long day. Drinks are also fairly cheap, which makes The Workshop the best bang for your buck burger joint.
Although it’s a fairly new spot, Itaewon the Burger (opened in 2016), has quickly established itself as one of Seoul’s premier burger joints.
The patties are homemade twice a day, while the beef is imported from Australia. For an extra 4,500 KRW, you receive a side of cajun fries and a drink. The vibe here is casual and customers Itaewon The Burger offers a variety of beers compliment your meal.
Piz Burger is a burger joint that prides itself on its 100 percent Australian beef and homemade buns. Unlike most restaurants, Piz offers a few unique alternatives to the traditional burger. Customers can also request food delivery via the Shuttle app. As a result, Piz has become popular for its fast service and fresh burgers.
The signature burger here is the “Shrek,” which is topped with red onions, American cheese, avocados, tomato bruschetta, baby leaf greens, and sweet chili sauce. Also, be sure to check out the delectable bacon cheese fries (8,900 KRW). If you’re not in the mood for a burger, the menu also includes cheese and pepperoni pizzas that cost 2,700-2,900 KRW per slice.
This is a small restaurant that has a similar vibe to fast food chains like Five Guys or In N’ Out. While it’s not spacious, there are tables available outside.
Pipit’s burgers are the perfect example of simple, yet delicious. There are only two burgers on the menu to choose from: the “Pipit” and “Patty Patty.” Customers can actually watch as a butcher grinds their beef into a patty on site.
If you want a burger loaded with fresh veggies go for the “Pipit,” which contains American cheese, bacon, tomato, blue lettuce, onions, and “pipit sauce”. The restaurant is decorated with empty beer bottles and chic paintings on its walls, making it one of the hippest burger places in Seoul. Even if you’re not an art major, it’ll be clear that the burgers here could qualify as masterpieces.
Their best burger is the “Mullae,” which is named after the neighborhood the restaurant is located in. The buns are made of oatmeal ciabatta and inside the burger, you’ll find mushrooms dipped in truffle oil. The truffle oil gives the Mullae an absolutely intoxicating smell. To make things even better, the “Mullae” costs only 8,600 KRW and can be upgraded to a set for an extra 4,500 KRW.
The name of the restaurant is displayed in neon lighting that overlooks the tables and the entire interior has an artistic feel to it. It’s the perfect place to snap some cool Instagram photos or bring a date.
As implied by its name, Firebell is a burger restaurant built to resemble a fire station: the interior is comprised of red and white checkered patterns. The menu items also continue the “fire” theme and range in flavour from slightly spicy to burning hot.
If you think your stomach can handle it, order the “Call 911,” which is topped with a spicy sauce and jalapeños. But be warned – the sauce and jalapeños are not for the faint of heart , and some may feel they cancel out the burger’s flavor. For those who want to take the safe route, try the “Rookie”, which is a simple burger with cheese and grilled onions.
Firebell is a quirky burger joint that is best to visit with friends. We don’t recommend coming with a date, as you probably don’t want them to see steam pouring out of your ears.
J’s Burger is a cafe-restaurant hybrid that is unknown to most expats in Korea. The menu is mostly composed of coffee and burgers. Don’t be fooled by the cafe vibe though, the burgers here are tall and the toppings are stacked on like bricks.
The “Bacon Avocado” is perfect in terms of both taste and texture. It’s comprised of sesame buns, freshly crushed avocados, bacon, American cheese, tomato, and lettuce. The patties are grilled fresh right after you order, but the longer cooking time is worth the hot and juicy texture of the burger. The French fries here are essentially large potato wedges, which you can place inside your burger.
Since it also operates as a cafe, J’s Burger is a good place to enjoy a quiet meal. Customers here regularly drink a cup of coffee while they wait for their burgers.
