2019 Cherry Blossom Festival Schedule in Korea

The 8th Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival | Dalseo-gu, Daegu

Daegu-bound friends, this is your time for a late valentine date. E-world, or one of Korea’s theme parks, will be holding the 8th Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival! Could there be anything nicer than taking rides with your loved ones while looking at the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms? Hwagae Cherry Blossom Festival | Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do

If you happen to be visiting Gyeongsangnam-do during spring, you might want to add the Hwagae Market Cherry Blossom Festival as one of your stops. Hwagae’s flower path is known as “Wedding Road”. The Wedding Road is popular amongst couples because of the belief that if they hold hands and walk down the 25km-long road along the river, they will be together for 100 years. You can enjoy the spectacular view from March 29th to March 31st.

Seomjingangbank Cherry Blossom Festival | Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do

Gurye’s cherry blossom path boasts its beautiful scenery with white cherry blossom trees planted along the banks of the Seomjin River. The festival will host various performances and events including concerts, traditional drum performances, a paragliding contest, and face painting. The festival will last for only two days starting from March 30th to March 31st. Don’t forget to visit while you have the chance!

Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Festival | Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do

Gyeongju’s Cherry Blossom Festival will take place in the upcoming 3rd to 7th of April at Bomun Tourist Complex and Dongbu Historic Site. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Gyeongju invites you out to enjoy the spring breeze together with the community through various activities. On the 5th, there are musical events such as an orchestra and buskers to fill the air with beautiful melodies. On the 6th, they will hold small sports competitions for limbo, hula-hooping, and many more games for both adults and kids to take part in!

One of Korea’s most popular annual spring festivals is the Jinhae Gunhangjae Festival. It started as a memorial service to commemorate Joseon period’s most noteworthy naval admiral but now has developed into the nation’s top visited place for cherry blossom season. The breathtaking view of Gyeonghwa station and Yeogwacheon Stream, Jinhye’s best spots, would make your jaw drop. To stress on how beautiful they are, we just wanted to point out that they make it to CNN’s “50 beautiful places to visit in South Korea“, ranking #5th and #19th respectively.

Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival | Jeju-si, Jeju

Jeju is one of the first places in Korea to see each year’s cherry blossoms. The Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival, where visitors can enjoy spring with cherry blossoms, will be held from April 4th to 6th in Jeju Island’s Jeonnong-ro and Aewol. There are many performance programs and light installations covering the cherry blossoms for visitors to take pictures and create beautiful memories. The festival will be held in a pedestrian zone to make sure you are safe while enjoying the festival.

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival | Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul

The 2019 Yeouido Spring Flower Festival will be held in the center of Yeouido, Seoul from April 5 to April 11. Watch beautiful spring flowers, youthful culture and art come alive through the various performances, exhibits, and activities at this festival. Visitors will see not only cherry blossoms but 13 types of spring flowers, including azaleas and forsythias. The Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, which started in 2005, is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary this year. It’s gaining ground as a cultural and artistic festival that has plenty of things to see and enjoy.

The Seokchonhosu Lake Cherry Blossom Festival in Jamsil is where the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms and Seokchon Lake are harmonized. The festival starts at the beginning of April every year. Various cultural and artistic performances, traditional art performances, and music concerts will be held. Also, there are a variety of activities, such as experience exhibitions, caricature artists, face painting, etc. Enjoy the spring festival at Seokchon Lake, where warm sunshine and cherry blossoms form a landscape from April 5 to April 12.

Gaeam-dong Cherry Blossom Festival is a successful, small-scale village festival hosted by the residents of three villages (Bongeun, Hoesi and Yujeong). The Cherry Blossom Festival in Gaeam-dong is happening at a pedestrian zone, so visitors will get to enjoy spring flowers with various programs to see and food to enjoy along the way. There are outdoor concerts, food markets and agricultural product sales for you to explore. At Gaeam-dong, visitors can tour Gaeamsa Temple (개암사) and Juryu Castle.
