Burns Night 2020 | Yongsan-gu, Seoul

If you enjoy listening to poetry or music, then this February, St. Andrew’s society presents to you the Burns Night. A night to relax, eat great food and free drinks while listening to poetry and songs written by the Scottish poet and lyricist, Robert Burns. The night will start off with a champagne reception at 7:00PM followed by a 5 course dinner to celebrate the life of Scotland’s bard and national poet Robert Burns who became a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism, and a cultural icon in Scotland and among the Scottish diaspora around the world. There will also be unlimited wine, beer and whiskey to keep the night going.

The 26th Seoul Dessert Fair (Choco & Strawberry) | Seocho-gu, Seoul

Dessert lovers and gourmets living in Seoul, you might want to come and take a look around the 26th Seoul Dessert Fair that will be up at the Yangjae AT Center from 7th to 9th of February. For the 26th fair organized in Seoul, the theme will be Chocolate & Strawberry and professionals as well as baking students will present to you their creations. Be ready for chocolate and strawberry pastries, cakes and macarons, but also strawberry lattes, chocolate fondue and a lot more! Besides Chocolate and Strawberry desserts, Yangjae AT Center also hosts a Design Goods Zone, a Beauty Zone, and a World Food Zone.

Hyukoh 2020 World Tour | Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Hyukoh Band, which originally started as a one-man band with Oh Hyuk at the forefront and later became a sensational four-piece band and the main focus of South Korea’s indie music scene will first begin their world tour in Seoul! Unfortunately, Hyukoh’s Lee In-woo (Drum) will be unable to participate due to health reasons but it is still worth going so don’t miss out on a night of awesome music.

The 38th Yongpyong International Ski Festival | Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

This February, the 38th Yongpyong International Ski Festival, an annual winter festival made especially for the foreigners living in Korea will be held. For the past years, around 300 participants from 25 different countries have taken part in this event and enjoyed the surrounding facilities provided by the resort: restaurants, bars, karaoke rooms, bowling alley, billiard hall, sauna, spa, and many others. On the program, events such as Ski and Snowboard competitions will be held. Participants over 8 years old are welcomed, and the events will be divided according to age and gender to guarantee a fair competition. For 1,000won an hour, you can spend a great time skating with your family or loved one, and enjoy the facilities around: cafeteria, coffee shop, and even a VR zone. On top of the main ice rink, Seoul Plaza Ice Rink houses a curling ice rink and a rink specially dedicated to children, for everyone to be able to make good memories safely. Winter Wonder Nami Island | Namiseom, Gangwon-do

The Winter Wonder Nami Island will take place at Namiseom Island which is one of the most popular travel destinations all year round. Visitors can engage in fun activities such as a sledding hill, taking photos at the ice photo zone, and getting lost in the snow maze. There will also be special performances and a stage by a Korean traditional arts group at the Ice Stage and UNICEF Eco-Stage. As a gift for your loved ones, you can make heart-shaped mugs at the Nami Island Handicraft Studio, and brooches, winter lights, candles and more at Children’s Land for a fee.

Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival | Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do

If cold is nothing to you, and you don’t mind traveling to Chungcheongnam-do Province, then this one’s for you. The Alps Village is holding its annual winter event: Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival. Perfect for a day out of the city with friends or family, you can go and enjoy the various activities organized at the festival. You can simply take a stroll around the ice sculptures and snow cave, or have an exciting moment snow sledding, ice sledding, and bobsledding. As Korea wouldn’t be Korea without its street food and restaurants, there is no need for you to pack lunch as you will be able to taste many snacks, such as grilled chicken skewers, rice cake and hot chocolate, steamed buns and many others. If you’re still missing out on things to do, you can visit one of the many stands, and make a traditional taffy or organic cosmetics, fish bare-handed, decorate a gourd, etc.

If you enjoy hunting for your own food once in a while, then you need to visit Hwacheon in Gangwon before the ice festival ends on 16th February because during this festival, you can get the chance to fish for trout barehanded. There are also many fun activities to participate in such as snow sledding, elgomi bike ride, ice soccer, fun rides and others. Visitors who want to take pictures and just chill can also do that at the indoor ice sculpture square, west volcano’s ice wall photo zone, coffee museum and others. There will also be street performances to keep visitors entertained and a special zone for foreigners.
