Dongduk Women’s University Korean Language Institute Curriculum

They offer a regular program, a short-term program, and a special program. 

Regular Program

This is a program designed for foreigners or overseas Koreans who want to learn Korean systematically for at least three months to enroll in Korean universities or graduate schools or want to be proficient in Korean for their business or career. There are four semesters (spring, summer, fall, and winter) each year, and one semester consists of ten weeks. Students can choose a suitable period to begin their study in Korean. Students can understand and experience Korean culture through special lectures, field trips, and cultural lessons programs (offered eight times each semester).

Classes are held five days a week for ten weeks, and a minimum of 80% attendance and an average in four subjects of at least 60 is required to complete one level of a course.

This institute provides a variety of special lectures and cultural experiences. You can observe classes of your major in their university degree program and attend special lectures offered by professors, which can be helpful for college admission. There are various cultural lessons, field trips, and school excursions that will allow you to understand and experience Korea and Korean culture.

Short-Term Program

Dongduk Women’s University Korean Language Institute will help you learn Korean and experience vibrant culture. This summer school allows you to experience the richness of Korean culture while enhancing your Korean skills for 3 weeks during the summer vacation in Korea. Our program combines specially designed and integrated Korean classes with various cultural activities from Monday to Thursday. In the morning classes, you will intensively study Korean and in the afternoons, you will take culture classes: Korean traditional music class, Korean cooking class, K-Pop music & dance class, and Taekwondo. Every Friday, you will have a field trip to broadcasting station and Lotte World and a two-day trip to the eastern coast and Seorak mountain.

Special Program

Courses for preparation for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) are offered all year. Special courses such as Practical Korean for Immigrants or Korean for College Enrollment are available if requested by students, companies or organizations.

Admission Procedure

Download the application form on their website and submit the application form and other application documents via e-mail, fax or mail. Then, pay the registration fee. You will have a paper screening and interview. Once you get your notification of admission, pay the tuition and housing fee to receive an issuance of acceptance.

Documents must be received three months prior to the first day of school by postage mail, email, or in person. If you are sending via email, you need to submit the scanned file of the documents. The school may request for the original document if deemed necessary. If you are using postage mail, you are recommended to use mail service which provides delivery confirmation like EMS. Applicants need to carry a high school diploma or more. Extensive details on required documents for applicants from China are listed on their website. 

Students who have been accepted can apply for a short-term multiple visa (C-3) and general training visa (D-4). C-3 visa is valid for up to 90 days and you must change to D-4 visa if you plan to continue studying.
