Description
The Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association (KUMFA) is an advocacy organisation and charity that deals with the social and legal rights of unwed mothers in South Korea. Their missions are to promote individual and community empowerment, improve awareness and expand social support for unwed single mothers.
They do this through a variety of differing support systems, including support through financial education, 24 hour counselling, providing information, a short term emergency shelter (HEATER), advocacy through the Human Library project, community involvement, regular meetings with other members and family camping activities.
KUMFA also accepts monetary donations that go toward the support of unwed single mothers. Also, patrons can support KUMFA by visiting the cafe run by their members in Yeouido, Cafe Pagus.
