Juno Hair is a well-known hair salon franchise with more than 50 locations throughout Seoul and other areas. The Myeongdong locations have English-speaking stylists and are very popular in the area which has many tourists and foreigners. They do cuts, colors and perms for both men and women and are up-to-date with the trends.
If you bring a picture of a specific hairstyle, it can help you and the hairstylists communicate to get what you want. Note that most locations besides Myeongdong and Hongdae will be unlikely to have English-speaking staff.
I went to the Juno Hair in Hongdae Exit 3. As soon as I walked in, the panic about a foreigner arriving was evident on the staff's faces. They put me into the back corner of the salon to wait (what was wrong with the waiting room in the front?) and the staff all kept asking each other "why is she sitting back here?" They sent one young man, I assume because he spoke the best English, to try to talk to me. After I spoke Korean to him, he went back to the staff and reported. Everyone seemed comfortable after that. My haircut was a little crooked, but it was fast and cheap and I guess what I paid for. Probably will go back to Park Seung Cheol in Hapjeong.
