Jeju Island continues to expand its museum collection with the addition of Hello Kitty Island.
Jeju Island is no stranger to theme museums and is now home to Hello Kitty Island – a museum, café, and gift shop dedicated to bringing the famous feline to life. The four story museum aims to let visitors experience “everything Hello Kitty” including history displays, a 3-D video show, drawing lessons, and a giant Hello Kitty house where you can see the iconic kitten’s accessories in every room. While the name Hello Kitty for some will only bring to mind childlike whimsy, at Hello Kitty Island, adults and Kitty lovers of all ages will find something they enjoy. From the collaborative works between interior and fashion designers that include Hello Kitty hanboks (Korean traditional dresses) and home decorating products, to the mini-galleries that display pieces that combine Hello Kitty with modern art, there is something for everyone. This makes the museum the purrrrfect place for families with children as the museum offers a variety of fun, physical activities, and even contains a play area where kids can burn off steam while parents grab a cup of steamy coffee at the café. An additional perk is that visitors that come wearing Hello Kitty shirts will receive a 5% discount on admission!
