The Original Pancake House is a chain of pancake houses with two locations in Seoul and 100 franchises in the United States. Les Highet and Erma Hueneke opened the original restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in 1953. Now, second and third-generation family members run the pancake house. The interior of the restaurant emulates an American diner from the 1960s with tiled floors and booth seating. There are four menus available: a lunch menu<\/a>, a dinner menu<\/a>, a dessert menu<\/a>, and a to-go menu<\/a>. The main categories for all the menus are salads, pancakes, crepes, waffles, eggs, hashes, burgers, fried chicken, and beverages. The Original Pancake House is known for two of their signature dishes. The Dutch Baby, also known as a German pancake, is akin to a large Yorkshire Pudding or American popover. This oven-baked dish is brought to the table where the waiter slathers it with butter, lemon, and powdered sugar. The Apple Pancake is a large pancake covered in saut\u00e9ed apples and cinnamon sugar.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are a variety of beverages offered. Milkshakes, coffee, juice, and ade can all be ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Pancake House prides itself on its use of high-quality ingredients and how all their batter is made from scratch. In their menu items, the restaurant uses only clarified butter, pure whipping cream, farm-fresh eggs, among other quality ingredients.
