Muju Firefly Festival 2019

Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do is holding their annual Firefly Festival from 08.31.19 ~ 09.08.19. Because of its pure environment, Muju provides a natural habitat for fireflies and the marsh snails the fireflies feed on. Over this festival period there are many activities such as nature experience events, cultural performances, folk experiences, food programs, water fight events, music performances, and more.

The festival highlight starts after 8PM when you can start seeing the fireflies light up the night sky.


Attending festival is free, but participating in certain programs range from around 5,000 to 15,000 Korean won. For more details click on this link.

From Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus to Muju Intercity Bus Terminal



  • Seoul-Daejeon-Muju (approx. 1hour 50min)
  • Seoul-Yeongdong-Muju (approx. 2hour 40min)
  • Daegu-Yeongdong-Muju (approx. 2 hours)
  • Busan-Yeongdong-Muju (approx. 3 hours 10 min)

If you are using KTX to go to Muju, transfer to a different mode of transportation is required from Daejeon Station.
