Pohang International Fire & Light Festival 2019

Pohang, also called the “City of Light and Fire”, is located in the South East part of South Korea and is mainly known for its seaport and the Pohang International Fire & Light Festival. Occurring each year, this festival drives a lot of tourism coming from all over Korea to see the fireworks. This year, the program includes firework shows from Japan, Korea and Canada, but also a light & fire parade, a music festival and other activities.

May 31st, 2019 (Fri), 3 pm ~ 6 pm: Busking Festival at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park and

Pohang Canal

6 pm ~ 7 pm: K-pop Random Play Dance with celebrity Gotoegyeong (Instagram @gotoegram) at the Special Stage in front of the crosswalk facing Songrim Elementary School (송림초).

7 pm – 7:30 pm: Opening Ceremony at the Special Stage in front of the crosswalk facing Songrim Elementary School (송림초).

7:30 pm – 8:40 pm: Light & Fire Parade, starting from the special stage and going to Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park.

8:40 pm – 9 pm: Theme Performances (The Song of Fire / The Story of the Iron City) at the main stage of Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

9 pm ~ 9:10 pm: Daily 10-minute firework at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

9:10 pm – 10 pm: Performance by G-DANCE at the main stage of Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

June 1st, 2019 (Sat), 3 pm ~ 5 pm: Busking Festival at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park and

Pohang Canal

5 pm – 6 pm: Performance by Pohang’s foreign sister city at the main stage of Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Light & Fire Radio at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park (special booth)

8:30 pm: Opening Performance at the main stage of Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

9 pm ~ 10 pm: Firework show from Korea, Japan and Canada (main event) at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

June 2nd, 2019 (Sun), 2 pm – 10 pm: “Let’s Sing PwangPwang Festival” at the special stage of Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

9 pm ~ 9:10 pm: 10-minute firework at Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park

Addresses & How to get there

Pohang:  To get to Pohang from Seoul, you can either take a flight from Gimpo Airport to Pohang Airport (1h), or take the KTX from Seoul Station to Pohang Station (2h20) or take an express bus from Seoul Express Bus Terminal to Pohang Express Bus Terminal (3h40). Hyeongsangang Riverside Sports Park: 형산강 체육공원, Haedo-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do To get there, take bus number 101 or 175 to Hyeongsan Rotary bus stop. Pohang Canal: 포항운하, Haedo-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do To get to Pohang Canal, get down at Pohang Express Bus Terminal and walk straight until you reach the bridge over the canal. Songrim Elementary School: 55 Chukhang-ro, Songdo-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do Songrim Elementary School is just facing the Pohang Canal.
