Damyang is a city in Jeollanam-do, in the South of Korea, mostly known for its bamboo forests and the Bamboo Festival occurring each May. Damyang Bamboo Festival celebrates bamboo in all of its forms, such as food, objects, and furnitures. Programs such as a bamboo fair, a bamboo-cutting sword championship, bamboo rafting, etc. will be featured.

To get to festival, it will take you a little bit more than 3 hours from Seoul.
You can take a train to Gwangju from Yongsan Station and then take bus 311 to Juknokwon (3 hours travel).
You can also take an express bus to Damyang from Central City Bus Terminal (Seoul). Once at Damyang Bus Terminal, cross the road and take a Bongsan-Damyang route bus to Juknokwon bus stop.
