Busan Lotus Lantern Festival (May 1st – 12th, 2019) is originally a Buddhist event celebrated the week before the birth of Buddha. Now, it is only a cultural event that Koreans come to celebrate all together, no matter what their religious background. The festivities are featuring lantern parades, traditional lanterns displays, traditional cultural events, and performances, etc.
Traditional Lanterns Displays: May 1st – 12th, 2019 at Song Sang Hyeon Square.
Opening Lighting Ceremony: May 1st, 2019, 7 pm at Song Sang Hyeon Square
Grand Buddhist Ceremony: May 4th, 2019 from 4 pm at Busan Citizens Park
Lantern Parade: May 4th, 2019 from 7:30 pm. The parade is starting from Busan Citizens Park 부산시민공원 > Samjeon Intersection 삼전교차로 > Seomyeon Intersection 서면교차로 > Saessak Street 새싹로 > Busan Citizens Park 부산시민공원

Buddha’s Birthday Celebrations: May 12th, 2019 from 10 am in all Busan’s Buddhist temples.
