Description

Sungkyunkwan Language Institute

Sungkyunkwan Language Institute (SLI) is a Korean language learning center in Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU).

Curriculum

Sungkyunkwan only offers a regular Korean program and a few optional supplementary classes. They run 6 8-week sessions every year, and the intensive program schedule may save time and study expenses. The class meets 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 8 weeks, totalling to around 200 hours per session.

Minimum time required for beginners to complete all 6 levels straight is 12 months. However, students’ starting level at SLI is decided by their placement score. There are two different campuses you can choose to learn on, with varying tuition fees for each campus. You must attend orientation on the first day of the program.

They use their own textbook, Sungkyun Korean. The class meets Monday to Friday from 9am to 2:50pm.

SLI also had other experiences. They have cultural activities for hands-on experience in culture and language, which are mandatory. Optional supplemental classes include TOPIK practice and extra-advanced levels. They also have a video contest, the winner of which will be selected and posted on the school’s social media sites. They also pair SLI students with undergraduates at Sungkyunkwan for conversational and cultural exchange.
