Taejon Christian International School | Yuseong-gu, Daejeon
Learn • Love • Lead
Taejon Christian International School is one of the most rigorous and effective international IB schools in Korea and all of Asia. Established in 1958, TCIS offers an adaptive curriculum of discovery learning and educational best practice. Their boarding program allows families from all over Korea and the world to experience a TCIS education.
TCIS educates students in K-12th grade, delivering the full IB Continuum in PYP, MYP, and DP. They were the first school in Korea to be authorized to do so, and students consistently demonstrate the benefits of this experience through test scores well above the world average, and also through their actions of service, community, and learning that happens beyond the classroom. Universities love education done this way because it produces students who are prepared to do well in their continued studies. TCIS students matriculate to top universities in the U.S. and around the world.
TCIS has a long and rich history in Korea. Started by missionary groups in 1958, the work that was begun at TCIS has its further roots in the missions and humanitarian works begun in the late 1800s. The original TCIS mission was to provide a top-quality education for children living in Korea but in a safe and supportive place, removed from the conflicted Northern border. The school continues to fill that mission today.
A TCIS education is made to help students achieve individual goals and focuses on character and ‘soft skills’ as well as academics. As a Christian school, there are many opportunities for students to further understand and grow in their faith as they learn with an encouraging community. While students of any and all faith backgrounds are welcome at TCIS, there is always a strong emphasis on the community rooted in core values of love, peace, and service to our fellow mankind. Whether it is done in faith or in a humanitarian spirit, this is an essential part of the TCIS experience.
