10 Things to Do in South Korea this November

Events in Korea aren’t slowing down just because the leaves are falling! Even as we shrug on our padded coats, there’s still lots to see between warm Americanos and hiding out in the heated subway.

We’ve compiled another list of some things to do this November. If you have some time to smell the coffee grinds, catch a local show or see some lights along the Cheonggyecheon River, take a look!

Seoul Lantern Festival | Jongno-gu, Seoul

  • Dates: November 1st – November 17th

This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Seoul Lantern Festival, which means it’s all the more reason to put on your coat and go to take a look at some of the most beautiful lights in town! This year, the lanterns will present the theme of “Seoul Dream, Flowing Light”, and separated under four subcategories, “Start of a New Dream”, “Dreaming of a Future”, “Sparkling Memories” and Traditional Flow”. At the seventeen-day festival, guests have the opportunity to take in the beautiful lantern displays, make their own traditional style lantern, fly a paper lantern play around on a scratchboard and catch a glimpse of the nightly light shows. Seoul Africa Fashion Show | Gangnam, Seoul

The Seoul Africa Fashion Show (SAFS) will return to Seoul for its third year on November 2, 2019 at the Platoon Kunstalle in Gangnam at 6 p.m. The venue doors will open at 5 p.m.

“Seoul Africa Fashion Show is a night of high fashion, music, and culture that delivers an exciting experience bridging Africans and Koreans through art and beauty” says Seoul Africa Fashion Show creative director, Rosemary Manso.

SAFS aims to promote up and coming African and Korean fashion designers along with aspiring models on a global platform. Last year, SAFS had an audience of more than 1,000 people including renowned fashion photographers, international press, and celebrities in attendance.

ANZA Korea – Melbourne Cup Charity Luncheon | JW Marriott Dongdaemun

Seoul Cafe Show | COEX, Seoul

57th SIWA and Diplomatic Community Bazaar | Lotte Hotel Seoul

The Seoul International Women’s Association, SIWA, is holding its annual Bazaar event this November 18th at the Lotte Hotel Seoul. The Bazaar has been organized annually since the foundation of SIWA in 1962. Last year more than 1,000 people attended the Bazaar and over 80 international and national institutions participated. Approximately 70,000,000 KRW was raised through the event. The SIWA Bazaar gives a good opportunity to find and acquire unique products, foods and craft from around the world, that may be difficult to find in Korea at a good value.

All of the proceeds from the Bazaar go to Korean charities that are carefully selected, evaluated and monitored by the SIWA Welfare Committee. We feel tremendous gratitude for the continuous and generous support of our participants in the Bazaar, which allows us to keep on providing the funding needed by these charities,” says Veronica Koon, SIWA President.

Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival | Paju-si, Gyeonggi

Dates: November 22nd – November 24th

The Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival (or Paju Jangdan Kong Festival) celebrates and life and the history of Jangdan soybeans that remain famous in Korea up until present day. The soybeans are renown for their ability to help with aging, obesity, blood pressure, diabetes, and brain development. The festival will showcase the beans as its main event, but will also display different ways to prepare the beans, cook them, and of course eat them. Visitors will also have the chance to experience the local farming culture in Paju for the day, and hear about their rich agricultural history through parades and shows.
