Welcome to the 6th annual R16 Korea: World B-Boy Masters Championship, a two-day showdown to determine the world’s top b-boy. R16 will take place on July 7th and 8th at Olympic Park in Seoul and includes an urban arts festival and concerts with top musicians. The event is hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The World B-Boy Masters Championship is one of five global b-boy events. Competitors are the top b-boy dancers in the world: winners of preliminary competitions held over the course of four months in 13 countries worldwide. The competition will be a must-see event with unbelievable performances and the chance to meet the hottest b-boys in the world.
The Championship begins with a competition between the world’s top 16 dancers and, through elimination rounds, escalates into a grueling battle-style tournament of poppin’, rocking, b-boying and other popular dance styles — finally ending with the crowning of the year’s b-boy master. Come join the massive crowds and fans from all over the globe, and be prepared to be blown away by the complex choreography and contagious energy.
First organized to raise awareness of urban arts and culture, R16 Korea has gained a huge fan following and is now considered Korea’s premiere hip-hop festival. R16 Korea 2012 will feature promoters, producers, musicians, hip-hop culture leaders, and over 300 artists in a variety of side events.
